I spent the the whole of the war in a suitcase <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A suitcase donated by the Red Cross <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was in Italy and I was in a cupboard<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or at least I thought I was<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a confined space<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because everything was rather muffled <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then at the end of the conflict<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was repatriated and remember <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chatting a woman in a shattered French village <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She asked me a number of questions<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In German French and English <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I explained in a tongue that was strange to me <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That I did not recognise my language <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The woman then opened my suitcase carefully <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I found myself in a charming village <\/p>\n\n\n\n
