It was during my travels with Celine <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That we alighted at this very station <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whilst we were here <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We both witnessed a landslide <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over there near where line divides <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Was it spectacular <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not really <\/p>\n\n\n\n
More dusty than spectacular <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is such a barren lonely station <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why were you here <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because we were meeting Celine’s brother <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Out here <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yes <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But then something very tragic happened <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Really <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A man was overcome by the hot sun <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And died soon after in the station office <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We helped as much as we could <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But the situation was quite hopeless <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have never seen anybody die <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is not something <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That I would like to experience <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In theory we experienced nothing <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One minute the man <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Was waiting for a train <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next minute he was dead <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Freddie’s train arrived shortly afterwards<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We did our best <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whilst we waited for the authorities <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But there was nothing we could do <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was something that he said <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which has stayed with me ever since<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The girl in charge was of tender years <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And was not really coping <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said quite casually given the gravity <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of what had just happened <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That death was the first night <\/p>\n\n\n\n
of silence without dreams<\/p>\n\n\n\n
