A few years ago I popped into London <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As my Silver Surfer magazine had arrived <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Storms had been forecast for the day<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And as I walked along Oxford Street <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The summer skies broke violently <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I sought shelter in a nearby cinema <\/p>\n\n\n\n
An obscure Russian movie was being shown <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was set deep in the interior during unhappy times<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And was about a poor farmer and his dying farm <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He had lost his wife but with the help of his daughters <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shared many of the monotonous day to day tasks<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Towards the end of the movie both women take a swim<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unaware that they are being watched by an armed bandit<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is watching the younger of the two women <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who panics when she realises that that they are not alone <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She swims rapidly toward the tall grasses seeking cover <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon seeing this her elder sister also retires from the lake <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And stands naked in the shallows daring the bandit <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To lay down his weapon and join her in the lake <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Initially her request is refused but slowly the bandit <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Removes his boots and walks towards the waters edge <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an instant he is cut down with bullets from his own gun <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The camera pans slowly towards the younger sister <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who is seen half hidden in the undergrowth laughing hysterically <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I should not have liked this movie as I dislike violence <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And prefer to share the adventures of the Silver Surfer <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet I found myself in this small and modest cinema<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rather liking the violent simplicity of this unusual movie <\/p>\n\n\n\n
