Today I travelled to Dover in Kent <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which is where the poet and composer<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Charlotte (Claribel) Alington is buried <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After a great deal of searching <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I located her final resting place <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the St James Cemetery<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I found her grave in a bad condition <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With much of its lettering missing <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The front rail was broken <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her stone cross had fallen <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And was lying nearby in the weeds<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the area was much overgrown
IN MEMORY OF CHARLOTTE ALINGTON<\/p>\n\n\n\n
HE DEARLY LOVED WIFE OF THE REVD CHARLES CARY BARNARD<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FORMERLY RECTOR OF BROCKLESBY LINCOLNSHIRE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DIED AT DOVER 30TH JANUARY 1869 AGED 38
Whilst many graves in this cemetery<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Were in a reasonable condition <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This grave was badly neglected <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which is really rather sad <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although a bunch of fresh flowers <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Had recently been placed on the grave <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was obvious to me that somebody cared
