The population of my lovely coastal town <\/p>\n
Swells considerably during the summer months <\/p>\n
We receive guests from all over the country and far beyond <\/p>\n
And although an acquired taste<\/p>\n
I rather like their imported habits <\/p>\n
This said I am not that keen on their ill mannered brats <\/p>\n
Who motivated by the sins of greed and avarice<\/p>\n
Destroy the calmness of all our local beaches <\/p>\n
They all seem to be plugged <\/p>\n
Into the Super National Grid<\/p>\n
The other day when walking kindly<\/p>\n
Along our beautiful coastal path <\/p>\n
I had the regret of meeting<\/p>\n
Lorimer and Jardine from Aberdeen<\/p>\n
Lorimer the younger of the two had been given a glider <\/p>\n
And he was deliberately terrorising his cousin Morag <\/p>\n
By flying his plastic toy at head height <\/p>\n
And then it happened <\/p>\n
As although the breezes were quite benign<\/p>\n
A sudden gust of wind directly from the Azores<\/p>\n
Caught the small glider <\/p>\n
It flew over sea wall and past a line of memorial benches <\/p>\n
Directly into the path of the number eighty-five <\/p>\n
There was a sickening sound of plastic and white wood <\/p>\n
Being crushed beneath the wheels of the open topped bus <\/p>\n
Without any regard for his own safety<\/p>\n
Lorimer ran blindly towards the road<\/p>\n
I was just ringing the undertakers<\/p>\n
When his father grabbed his arm <\/p>\n
Crude Scottish words beyond my understanding <\/p>\n
Were offered and understood<\/p>\n
The young child then burst into hysterical tears <\/p>\n
As he looked at the remains of his much loved toy <\/p>\n
Jardine and Morag were laughing loudly <\/p>\n
Which just made things much worse <\/p>\n
And further antagonised Lorimer <\/p>\n
The mother who had up to the unfortunate incident <\/p>\n
Been quietly working on her watercolour of the sea <\/p>\n
Looked up and suggested that the family should replace the glider <\/p>\n
As she did not want it to spoil little Lorimers holiday <\/p>\n
Thankfully I had strayed out of earshot <\/p>\n
