{"id":3568,"date":"2017-06-21T18:31:37","date_gmt":"2017-06-21T18:31:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stuartmillerosborne.co.uk\/?p=3568"},"modified":"2017-06-21T18:32:13","modified_gmt":"2017-06-21T18:32:13","slug":"summer-solstice-avebury-june-21-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/2017\/06\/21\/summer-solstice-avebury-june-21-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Solstice Avebury (June 21 2017)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Those who witnessed the dawn are fading gradually<\/p>\n<p>Some remain in small communities under the decorated trees<\/p>\n<p>Temperatures are in the nineties<\/p>\n<p>Everything is busy but still<\/p>\n<p>From my vantage I can hear pan pipes mixed lightly with heavy rock<\/p>\n<p>People are dancing near the stones and chanting ancient words<\/p>\n<p>Whose meanings was lost over a thousand years ago<\/p>\n<p><i>I am going to buy the shit out of the shop <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Without any money <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>We have no money <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Their excitement evaporates and the barefoot trio return to the shady tree<\/p>\n<p><i>I have five pounds <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>I have ten <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Do not waste it on alcohol<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Soft drinks and chilled water <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>You are turning into a square Mike <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Somebody has to be sensible <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Their words fade as they walk slowly along the rough chalk path towards the village<\/p>\n<p>Wiltshire is known as a county of harsh landscapes but today she is benign<\/p>\n<p>So very benign<\/p>\n<p>Her fields stretch out as far as the eye can see<\/p>\n<p>Some are being harvested<\/p>\n<p>Others simmer in the heat of the day<\/p>\n<p>I decide to walk to Silbury which is about a mile distant<\/p>\n<p>My journey will necessitate the climbing of a shallow hill<\/p>\n<p>This is the Hill of Sudden Dreams<\/p>\n<p><i>Summw <\/i><\/p>\n<p>The buzz bees say as they swarm without malice over the warm wheat fields<\/p>\n<p><i>Summw <\/i><\/p>\n<p>I do not understand the language of bees<\/p>\n<p><i>Summw <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Bees do not have a language<br \/>\nTheirs is a musical existence<\/p>\n<p>As I sit on the descending path<\/p>\n<p>I look at Silbury in the haze<\/p>\n<p>She is as fecund as she always is<\/p>\n<p>But today she seems more fertile<\/p>\n<p>I would like to roll my hand over her swollen belly<\/p>\n<p>And sup from her milky breasts<\/p>\n<p><i>Open your eyes now and return to the small village through the avenue of the mighty stones<\/i><\/p>\n<p>I hear these words on the summer breeze<\/p>\n<p><i>Do you know what is down that road sir?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>There are a few more stones but really<\/i> <i>there is not much more to see<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Can you recommend anything else?
