Deep within a gentle summer

There is no beauty in poverty <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is no beauty in the chaos <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of their bleak and sordid lives<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If they were given all the riches of the world<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These creatures would soon corrupt their advantages<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One has only to look worldwide to see this happening

That Alfred Austin was a fraud <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who pretended to be a socialist <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whilst exploiting those in his work <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was a typical socialist <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who recorded these creatures <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In their awful zoos and asked<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For our sympathy and concern<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whist living in considerable comfort<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Around the city parks <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Towards the end of his wretched life <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He lived in Hampstead <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With his equally wretched friends <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are all dead and mostly forgotten <\/p>\n\n\n\n
History will soon forget that they ever existed <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Austin’s photographs are still hung <\/p>\n\n\n\n
By those who pretend to care <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But are as worthless <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the cats and dogs<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On unloved biscuit tins<\/p>\n\n\n\n
