I am very interested in photography <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And recording railway stations mainly at night<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is something still that I like to record <\/p>\n\n\n\n
About five years ago I found myself in Dover<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The geography of this station fascinated me<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As it was overlooked by hills at both ends <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was while I was taking my photographs<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That a member of station staff came up to me <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And asked why I was standing at the platform end <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Was I waiting for the last train or just quietly smoking <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or did I have something much more sinister in mind<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I explained that I liked photographing stations at night<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We had an interesting conversation about photography <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before I changed platforms and caught my train home<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I thought very little of this small and passing incident<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Until I spoke to a porter who was also a camera enthusiast<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He remembered the girl as one of the administration staff <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who for no reason walked into the tunnel from the platform <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some ten years previously an event that shook him up<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the girl was very outgoing caring and much liked<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Out of kindness I pretended to have confused my dates<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But deep down I knew who I had met and what I had seen <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I checked the photographs that I had taken on that visit <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet the station deep in its night shadows was quite empty<\/p>\n\n\n\n
