Ross often went shopping

On rainy days

He would look out

For unusual things

During his frequent visits

To the small coastal town

Which he called his home

Recently he had found a small

A small concrete rabbit

Which he called

Bright Eyes

And a wooden

Pagoda

Which doubled

As a glass bead game

Today he found

A Magic Coach

With two horses

A Coachman

And during

A rare visit

To these shores

Marie Antoinette

The detail

Of this ceramic

Was crude

It was white

With finished gold

And was typical

Of the prizes

That could be found

At the end of the pier

On autumn days

Such as today

It now sits

On a shelf

In Amanda’s bedroom

A gift from her irritating

But loving husband

Who sees beauty

In everything

Even on bleak

November Days
