I am in Whitstable today with my family<\/p>\n
The sun is high in the sky and everything is calm<\/p>\n
Small children are playing with vacant oyster shells<\/p>\n
Whilst their parents paddle quietly in the sea<\/p>\n
Above me umber moths hide in the coastal trees<\/p>\n
Waiting for the evening breeze<\/p>\n
Their camouflage does not fool me<\/p>\n
I look at my small soldiers book<\/p>\n
Nobody is aware of your poem<\/p>\n
Why should they be?<\/p>\n
The waxed cloths idle are silent<\/p>\n
Their duties spent<\/p>\n
And the dead have been laid to rest<\/p>\n
Anniversaries count for little these days<\/p>\n
Which is rather sad<\/p>\n
As all is quiet once more on the Givenchy Field<\/p>\n
