with a look of absolute horror<\/p>\n
in his eyes<\/p>\n
no reason was ever given for this<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I was not tricked by the reflections<\/p>\n
and knew the works<\/p>\n
to be hung together<\/p>\n
in seperate rooms<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The paintings looked ordinary<\/p>\n
two boys of royal blood<\/p>\n
seated, reading books of poetry<\/p>\n
they were both wearing fine clothes<\/p>\n
and each had a hound<\/p>\n
stretched on the rug<\/p>\n
that covered their feet<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It was the background<\/p>\n
that fascinated me<\/p>\n
the artist had used an unrecorded colour<\/p>\n
a green, darkened, almost black<\/p>\n
it was not known from whom it was purchased<\/p>\n
he had used it in the area behind the boys<\/p>\n
however nothing appeared to exist in this space<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I found a great knife<\/p>\n
and had removed the aged varnish from the work<\/p>\n
I had wanted to see the colour<\/p>\n
with more clarity<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I know of this colour now<\/p>\n
but I will not share my knowledge<\/p>\n
as I am trapped behind the princes seated<\/p>\n
I will spend eternity here<\/p>\n
hidden from view<\/p>\n
