17th Flamingo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Petra and Paul were driving across the Camargue in a rented car<\/p>\n<p>It was the first day of their French holiday<\/p>\n<p><em>I tell you that there are only sixteen flamingos in the whole of the Camargue<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There are far more than that have you never seen them in films and the like<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It is all an illusion<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A trick of the light<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There have only ever been sixteen flamingos<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We will see when we arrive<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Arrive where<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Flamingo Lake<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There is no Flamingo Lake<\/em><\/p>\n<p>An hour later both Petra and Paul were to be found under a tree on the shores of a thin lake<\/p>\n<p>After swimming for a while they returned to their bags only to find that a flamingo had stolen them and was parading with the bags on a rocky outcrop some metres above them<\/p>\n<p><em>What shall we do<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Nothing<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We have to do something otherwise we will spend the rest of the day in our swim gear<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>That flamingo is the 17<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Flamingo and the 17<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Flamingo does not exist<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It looks real enough to me look it has my summer dress dangling from its beak<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Turn around Petra<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Why<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Just turn around<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What do you see<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The lake<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What else<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Flamingos<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Count them<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Count the flamingos<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I have counted 16 flamingos<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And that proves that the 17<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0flamingo does not exist<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Petra turned around and looked for the thieving flamingo but it was no longer where it had previously been<\/p>\n<p><em>It was a trick of the light that\u2019s all Petra<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Was the theft of the bags a trick of the light<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Or the games with my summer dress<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The bag is where we left it and you did not bring a summer dress<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You were wearing a vest and shorts<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I brought a summers dress<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The red one<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It is in the apartment<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I packed it just in case I burnt<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Check the bag<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Petra unzipped the bag but could not find her summer dress<\/p>\n<p><em>This is all getting very strange Paul<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Not really but let us return to the town and leave these beautiful creatures in peace<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As they approached the town they found that they had joined a queue of traffic<\/p>\n<p>A lorry had spilt its load of summer dresses<\/p>\n<p>Near the roundabout a disinterested traffic cop was giving directions to the traffic towards the town<\/p>\n<p>It was then that Petra noticed that he was not the only cop on duty<\/p>\n<p>As on the other side of the shallow roundabout there was a flamingo in her summers dress directing traffic safely away from the
