I have been a prisoner in the red house for some months now<\/p>\n

When I say that I am imprisoned I play with the truth<\/p>\n
\n
As I am a roaming poet<\/p>\n
\n
A master of Haiku<\/p>\n
\n
My every comfort is looked after with a great attention to my needs<\/p>\n
\n
Meals are brought to me three times a day<\/p>\n
\n
By a maiden who crosses the five stepping stones<\/p>\n
\n
Without a care for her own safety<\/p>\n
\n
She then stays with me and copies my poems down<\/p>\n
\n
\u00a0On to the leaves of indigenous plants<\/p>\n
\n
I have been told that I am required to write one thousand and three haiku poems<\/p>\n
\n
Before I will be allowed to leave with my amanuensis<\/p>\n
\n
With a sharpened bamboo pole for our protection<\/p>\n
\n
I doubt if I will ever leave this paradise<\/p>\n
\n
As I have written less than a score of poems so far<\/p>\n
\n
And will be vacant and enfeebled<\/p>\n
\n
By the time that I reach the number of poems required<\/p>\n
\n
I have not written a single word for many days<\/p>\n
\n
Preferring to sit on the narrow red veranda<\/p>\n
\n
Drinking the wine of the pink dragonflies<\/p>\n
\n
And engaging in meaningless conversations<\/p>\n
\n
