I have returned from my college<\/p>\n
On my brand new pink bicycle<\/p>\n
Whilst I was there the title of Whitman’s<\/p>\n
Leaves of Grass<\/p>\n
Was explained to me<\/p>\n
It seems that grass is the name given by publishers<\/p>\n
To works of a minor value<\/p>\n
Leaves are another name for the pages of a book<\/p>\n
It is a pun which is pretty obvious<\/p>\n
However I did not work that one out<\/p>\n
This only goes to prove that I am a stupid fuck<\/p>\n
But I suppose you knew that already<\/p>\n
At present I an leafing through my reviews<\/p>\n
They are all hostile<\/p>\n
Many of my critics have said<\/p>\n
That I should burn my poems<\/p>\n
And join them on the pyre<\/p>\n
The Daily Mail has gone even further<\/p>\n
And suggests to me that suicide is painless<\/p>\n
I have written back and have requested<\/p>\n
That their critics should try it first<\/p>\n
Amanda Palmer recently sent me a clip from her 2013 Roundhouse gig<\/p>\n
In it she shared her thoughts about the Daily Mail<\/p>\n
I would copy her but I cannot sing<\/p>\n
And it is so fucking cold in December<\/p>\n
I will finish now as I have little to add<\/p>\n
Today is the 1st of December 2020<\/p>\n
The year is nearly complete<\/p>\n
I will be glad to see it pass<\/p>\n
As the last year has not been kind to me<\/p>\n
The roads have been rocky and I have suffered some injuries<\/p>\n
But I am on the mend as sponges do not lose their shape<\/p>\n
Do not worry about me as I am strong and have been rewired<\/p>\n
And soon you will\u00a0 be able to pick up my pamphlets once more<\/p>\n
Hot from the sinful press<\/p>\n
And share my electric dreams<\/p>\n
