I am sitting on a train travelling through Europe<\/p>\n
The pandemic had never happened<\/p>\n
But there was still hate<\/p>\n
So much hate<\/p>\n
I cast my mind back to the late summers day when I passed a man who was dressed as a woman<\/p>\n
He\/She\/It was being abused by a group of yobs<\/p>\n
He\/She\/It had brought it on themselves<\/p>\n
Or so I thought as I heard the yobs begin to attack the poor man<\/p>\n
Who was obviously mentally ill<\/p>\n
But deep down I was glad and I hated myself for it<\/p>\n
My train had arrived on time and I was pleased with its punctuality<\/p>\n
If it had been a hour late then this would have upset me<\/p>\n
I believe in the order of things<\/p>\n
And that was why I did not react when the yobs had attacked the poor creature<\/p>\n
Or why I was glad when my train ran on time<\/p>\n
I do not like change but the world is changing<\/p>\n
It seems to be spinning in the opposite direction<\/p>\n
There was a pandemic but it did not suit my order of things<\/p>\n
So I did not let it happen<\/p>\n
I have been on this train for over an hour<\/p>\n
But I am not sure of my destination<\/p>\n
My ticket is an open ticket quite plain and without detail<\/p>\n
I might alight at the next station and find a hotel<\/p>\n
Where I will retire and enjoy my soft dreams of travelling<\/p>\n
Or I might stay in this comfortable seat<\/p>\n
And dream of sleeping in a large hotel bed<\/p>\n
With a loaded pistol next to my bedside lamp<\/p>\n
There are always loaded pistols in hotel rooms<\/p>\n
So that the wretched<\/p>\n
Can consider<\/p>\n
Life and eternity<\/p>\n
In a Godless universe<\/p>\n
Before pulling the trigger<\/p>\n
Anonymous in life<\/p>\n
Anonymous in death<\/p>\n
In the anonymity of a hotel room<\/p>\n
There is a certain order to this<\/p>\n
I have a book on the table in front of me<\/p>\n
The title is unimportant but its cover is green<\/p>\n
I chose it as it matched the decor of the carriage<\/p>\n
That was very important to me<\/p>\n
As I do not intend to read it<\/p>\n
It is likely that I will leave it on the train<\/p>\n
Or in a hotel room covered in blood<\/p>\n
Unread and uncut and unloved<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
