I first met Anna when she was a struggling writer<\/p>\n

In the city of Enschede in June 1999<\/p>\n

I was then as I am now an established poet<\/p>\n

And had travelled to Enschede for a number of readings<\/p>\n

Anna told me that she thought that I looked like Nina Hagen<\/p>\n

She had not been the first person to tell me that<\/p>\n

Although I could not see the resemblance myself<\/p>\n

Anna showed me a copy of her proposed novel<\/p>\n

It was to be called Better than Coffee<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Younger woman meets older woman<\/em><\/p>\n

Both are writers one successful and the other unknown<\/em><\/p>\n

They have a brief but intense affair that lasts<\/em><\/p>\n

Until the younger woman is killed in an explosion<\/em><\/p>\n

Caused by poorly stored fireworks<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The older woman arranges for the younger woman’s book<\/p>\n

To be published and it meets with favourable reviews<\/p>\n

The book sells well and is translated into French and Italian<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In 2004 the older woman publishes a book of poetry<\/p>\n

Which is also called Better than Coffee<\/em><\/p>\n

Her poems reveal the strong feelings that the older woman<\/p>\n

Had for the younger woman during the final year of her life<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
