On Tuesday we travelled along three desert roads<\/p>\n
The first was pretty straight and ran through<\/p>\n
what I considered to be a quite repetitive terrain<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The second road was surrounded by low hills<\/p>\n
It was there that we picked up a hitchhiker called Barbara<\/p>\n
Denis lectured her on the dangers of accepting rides in the desert<\/p>\n
but I am not sure that it sank in as she seemed to be a refugee from the seventies<\/p>\n
When we reached Cabin I arranged for a friend to take her onwards to her destination<\/p>\n
Kitty gave her two hundred dollars and I gave her one of our tour jackets<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We are still on the third desert road which is by far the most interesting<\/p>\n
As it is frequently covered by thin layers of sand which obscure the road markings<\/p>\n
The desert itself is starkly beautiful but strangely is the most populated<\/p>\n
It feels like we are near a big city although we are only halfway through our journey<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
