In my collection of interesting things<\/p>\n
I have a French King made of stone<\/p>\n
His name was Louis and he reigned<\/p>\n
From 1558 to 1575 when he was lost at sea<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But you will not find any record of this King<\/p>\n
As from the day he was born he was cursed<\/p>\n
And everything he attempted turned to powder<\/p>\n
Nothing survived his dreadful touch<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It was said that his boat was deliberately sunk<\/p>\n
Although this has never been totally proved<\/p>\n
But records show that he sailed in calm weather<\/p>\n
And was drowned with twelve others not far from Calais<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Louis was all but forgotten until\u00a0 March 1955<\/p>\n
When a screaming pebble was washed up on a beach<\/p>\n
It was moon shaped and clearly showed<\/p>\n
The Kings scarred mouth and useless eye<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It was kept under lock and key in a local museum<\/p>\n
As it often screamed as if it had seen the Devil<\/p>\n
On other occasions when photographed<\/p>\n
It turned from a dull grey to an aggressive red<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I purchased this stone illegally in 2004<\/p>\n
And since that date it has remained quite silent<\/p>\n
As if it is happy to have finally reached England<\/p>\n
Although it still glows red on moonless lights<\/p>\n
