{"id":8206,"date":"2021-08-06T21:56:58","date_gmt":"2021-08-06T20:56:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stuartpoetry.art\/?p=8206"},"modified":"2021-08-06T22:05:29","modified_gmt":"2021-08-06T21:05:29","slug":"cavatina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/2021\/08\/06\/cavatina\/","title":{"rendered":"Cavatina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>A Cavatina is a musical term originally meaning a short song of simple character<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Rather like a folk song<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In a way\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The air is so warm tonight\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It is always warm in the hills above the sea\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You must have many happy memories\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Yes I have many\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But one stands out\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Which one is that\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It was when my cousins visited\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We were allowed to accompany Mama to the pumice slopes\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Surely they were dangerous\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Yes they were but if you treated them with respect then you were safe<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Tell me more\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>My cousins usually arrived from the city in the early days of August\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And this gave Mama the excuse to visit the pumice cliffs<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>She would take her brush and paints and work for hours\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Whilst we played on the pumice slopes and swam in the shallows\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Do you have any of her paintings\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I have a few and the strange thing is that she only ever used blue yellow and white<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You must show me some of her works\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I will at breakfast tomorrow before the sun gets too hot<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>They are best viewed in the early morning light<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It is so quiet so very quiet<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You can almost hear the silence<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And\u00a0 because of that you will share your dreams with the night\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Sleep now my love as you have had a long journey\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Close your eyes and skip down the pumice cliffs as I once did<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Sleep now before the sun continues its journey<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Cavatina<\/b>\u00a0is a\u00a0<a title=\"Music\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Music\">musical<\/a>\u00a0term, originally meaning a short\u00a0<a title=\"Song\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Song\">song<\/a>\u00a0of simple character, without a second strain or any repetition of the\u00a0<a title=\"Air (music)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Air_(music)\">air<\/a>.
