In a field not far away<\/p>\n

Courting pheasants<\/p>\n

Pass the feeding rabbits<\/p>\n

Whilst the doomed cows graze<\/p>\n

Without effort<\/p>\n

Unaware of their mortality<\/p>\n

The sickly mayor<\/p>\n

Proclaims his love for the Queen<\/p>\n

People cheer<\/p>\n

But do not really care<\/p>\n

I am always suspicious of happiness<\/em><\/p>\n

The girl from the hat shop notes<\/p>\n

To her disinterested friend<\/p>\n

In a hotel<\/p>\n

Young lovers explore<\/p>\n

Each other\u2019s bodies<\/p>\n

And wonder<\/p>\n

If their future child<\/p>\n

Will organise the Prince\u2019s Jubilee<\/p>\n

There are many flags<\/p>\n

In the High Street<\/p>\n

Moving gently in the April breeze<\/p>\n

Children sing African songs<\/p>\n

One has to remember the Commonwealth you know<\/em><\/p>\n

Whilst the great and good<\/p>\n

Smile with a hidden embarrassment<\/p>\n

Drinks have been reduced in price<\/p>\n

First round free
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

And old men gather together<\/p>\n

Muttering beneath their breath<\/p>\n

That the cowards lost the Empire<\/p>\n
