When the Queen Mother reached her ninetieth year<\/p>\n

I was in Dartmouth in South Devon<\/p>\n

The railway station in Kingswear<\/p>\n

Was highly decorated<\/p>\n

And many wore traditional costume<\/p>\n

To celebrate the occasion<\/p>\n

It was a very hot day<\/p>\n

And on the beach<\/p>\n

People wore very little<\/p>\n

But small flags of celebration<\/p>\n

Were still planted in the sand<\/p>\n

There were no film posters<\/p>\n

Advertising Spanish films<\/p>\n

On the beach<\/p>\n

I did not expect to see them<\/p>\n

But was told that they were there<\/p>\n

By two Spanish cousins<\/p>\n

Twenty-six years later<\/p>\n

With the Queen Mother long dead<\/p>\n

Her daughter celebrated her ninetieth birthday<\/p>\n

The day was not hot<\/p>\n

And I was not on a beach<\/p>\n

But in the Oxfordshire town<\/p>\n

There were many film posters<\/p>\n

Advertising Spanish films<\/p>\n

I placed my hand on one<\/p>\n

And one of the cousins spoke to me<\/p>\n

Her name was Victoria<\/p>\n
