{"id":8785,"date":"2021-09-30T10:47:14","date_gmt":"2021-09-30T09:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stuartpoetry.art\/?p=8785"},"modified":"2021-09-30T10:49:59","modified_gmt":"2021-09-30T09:49:59","slug":"ebbsfleet-international-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stuartmillerosborne.com\/index.php\/2021\/09\/30\/ebbsfleet-international-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Ebbsfleet International"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>You know I find these vending machines so tiresome<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>They are meant to be tiresome<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>What time is the next train?<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>In about ten minutes<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>It is the last Dover train of the day<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>I am going home at last<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Are you excited?<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Very I am going to meet my distant descendants<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>I think I have been in Gravesend for too long<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>How long have you lived here<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Four hundred years<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I have had this conversation on many occasions<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is never different<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She never catches the train<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She just stands next to the tiresome vending machine<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Awaiting the next train<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a slight smile pursing her lips<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Pocahontas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You died in this estuary town<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On your return voyage<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Miles from your original home<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The location of your grave is unknown<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As your father\u2019s church was consumed by flames<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Only your statue remains<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Everybody visits you<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But few remember you<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>There is a life size statue of Pocahontas at Saint George\u2019s Church in Gravesend Kent<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Pocahontas was buried here after her death in 1617<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>The exact location of her grave is unknown as the original church was destroyed by fire in 1627<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>She is thought to have been buried underneath the chancel of the church<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Pocahontas<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indian Bride<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No good will come of your voyage<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will die in an estuary town<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In England\u2019s first county<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Pocahontas and her husband John Rolfe were returning to Virginia in March 1617 but only got as far as Gravesend as Pocahontas had become seriously ill<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>After being taken ashore she died soon after and was buried in the Kent town<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Her grave is now lost<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Trail Monkey<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Trail Monkey always rides<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the final wagon<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of the train<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He is tasked<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To look out for<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Red Indians<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But they are far away<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You know I find these vending machines so tiresome They are meant to be tiresome What time is the next train?
