Sylvia Beach published the first book edition<\/p>\n
Of Ulysses by James Joyce<\/p>\n
Stephen Molly and Leopold<\/p>\n
Were the central characters<\/p>\n
Virginia described it as tosh<\/p>\n
Whereas Tom Eliot considered it very important<\/p>\n
I visited Paris today<\/p>\n
And sat outside Shakespeare and Company<\/p>\n
It was about ten degrees<\/p>\n
Not warm but certainly not cold<\/p>\n
I purchased a worn copy of Ulysses<\/p>\n
From a small bookshop in London<\/p>\n
Just before I boarded my train<\/p>\n
But I did not read it immediately<\/p>\n
As I had decided to read Portrait<\/p>\n
To develop the characters in my mind<\/p>\n
Today is the 2nd of February 2022<\/p>\n
